Halloween is coming, and it’ll probably seem like it’s here before you know it. Are you ready to decorate your home in the true spirit of Halloween? Hands Coming Up From the Water
Seeing a disembodied hand coming out of nowhere always gets attention, and several of these hands will get even more attention. If you have a fountain, pond or any other vessel of water that’s murky, you’ll have a perfect place to put these hands. It’s a very easy way to bring out the maximum effect, especially if situated in a spot where they appear ready to grab somebody.
Crashed Witch
You’ve no doubt seen the infamous witch’s legs in striped tights somewhere during your pre-Halloween travels. It’s fairly easy to put this together as long as you have a nice, deep pot or bucket on your porch. All you need is a pair of mannequin legs, striped tights and shoes – consider adding half of a broomstick for an even greater effect. Pinterest has some great tips for this one!
A Flock of Bats
Bats are usually players in vampire movies and tend to like deep, dark caves in real life – no wonder we’re afraid of them. Creating a flock of bats out of black cardstock and putting them all over a wall is the perfect way to give someone the shivers. Consider adding some additional terror to your wall of bats with a big spider web in a visible colour. A couple of extra spiders doesn’t hurt either.
Cheesecloth Ghosts
You can’t go wrong with some ghosts – it’s traditional Halloween decor! Get some mannequin heads for the most authentic look, and several lengths of cheesecloth. Hang the cheesecloth-covered heads from the ceiling with the cloth pulled close so the faces are visible. Consider putting a fan on full blast to make them look like they’re drifting.

Zombie Dollies
Zombies seem to have become all the rage recently, so why not have fun with this trend? Take some old dolls, with or without hair, and give them ripped clothes and some fake blood. Putting these creepy little toys out on your lawn will definitely give people the creeps, especially if you use blue or purple lights.

Chandelier Cobwebs
Everyone has a shudder down their spine when they walk into a cobweb, especially if they weren’t expecting one. Spreading fake cobwebs from the ceiling down to the floor will give the maximum spook effect, especially if you add some big plastic spiders. Make sure they’re spread fairly thin for a more realistic look.
Skeletal Spider
A spider sporting a human skull is enough to give anybody pause, no matter how much scary stuff they’re into. You can craft the legs from wire easily, and paint them black. Use a skull for the head, and you may even consider using a skull decorated for the Day of the Dead, which shares much in common with Halloween.
Spider Pod Victims
Spider webs are scary, but what’s even scarier is seeing what’s left of their victims ready to become the next meal. Wrap up skulls or possibly other body parts in cheesecloth or that stretchy cobweb stuff in a convincing pod shape. Be sure to add the spiders to the outside of the web!
Bloody Handprint and Text
Bloody handprints are super-easy decor because all you need is bright red poster paint. Add the handprints to your windows so you can wash them off easily after. For even more of a chilling effect, write some text on the windows, too, like “Help me!” or “Abandon hope, all who enter here”.
