One of the best things about living in Edmonton is getting to explore and support some amazing local businesses. Here are some of what we think are the best Edmonton restaurants for date night, and we’ve included some delicious meal suggestions to try at each place. If it’s been a while since you’ve planned a night out or you’re looking for something new to try, we’ve got you covered!

The Melting Pot

2920 Calgary Trail NW Ste 117

Whether you’re looking for an intimate date night spot or you want to celebrate a special occasion together, The Melting Pot is always a great choice.

Like its name suggests, you’re about to be in fondue heaven as you choose your favourite melted cheese concoction and a variety of meats and vegetables for dipping. This type of meal allows you to take your time and enjoy each other’s company as you savour each bite.

Ordering is easy here, with their carefully crafted four-course dinners for two where you choose the kind of cheese fondue you want, then pair it with salad or soup to start. Then, you’ll pick your favourite two entrees and a cooking style, followed by an amazing dessert to finish a great night out.

If you’re looking for something lighter or want to stick with a certain type of fondue, you can order from their a la carte menu. The choice is all yours, and no matter what you choose it will be delicious!

Branches Fresh Food Experience

Highway 16 and Cloverbar Road, Sherwood Park

You probably wouldn’t have thought of finding a romantic restaurant in the midst of a garden centre, but Branches Fresh Food Experience in the Greenland Garden Centre offers just that; in one of the area’s most beautiful settings.

They have a special “date night” menu for two featuring your choice of a beverage, a shared appetizer, wood-fired pizza and dessert for only $60! They also have a selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, as well as a changing seasonal menu of contemporary comfort food.

Japonais Bistro

11806 Jasper Ave

If you love sushi and share plates, this Japanese fusion restaurant is a perfect choice for your next date night! After a quick look at their menu, you’ll see they love to put their own unique twists on classics and there’s no shortage of tasty options to share here.

For appetizers, there’s the popular Tuna Tataki, or if you want to try something more adventurous, the Fuji Beef Short Rib looks amazing. When it comes to rolls, there are some options you’ve probably never heard of before like the Truffle Fry, Love Crunch, and Godzilla Makimon.

After you’ve filled up on some delicious sushi and shared plates, you’ll want to make room for their decadent Matcha Creme Brulee. And there is a nice selection of sake for you to wash it all down!

Workshop Eatery

2003 91 Street SW

Owner and Executive Chef Paul Schufeld loves what he does and you can see the passion he brings to each dish at Workshop Eatery.

With Lunch, Dinner, and Brunch Menus, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste and can make it a “date day” instead. Fresh, local ingredients are the stars of most dishes, especially when it comes to the entrees. Jeff Nonay beef from Sturgeon County is second to none and you can try it in the Chop Burger, Smoked Short Rib, or the Token Steak Dish.

You can start off your meal with the very popular Arancini or the Carpaccio. There’s Duck Liver Pate and a Pantry Board too if you’re feeling like trying something new. And you’ll love their salad options if you want something lighter.

For drinks, if you love local craft beer you’re in for a treat. There are multiple beers on tap from SYC, Blindman, and Omen Brewing. If a fancy cocktail is more your style, either the Lemon Meringue or the Empress Rose are worth a try.

If you enjoy the idea of sampling some Portuguese fare alongside the passion and energy of live music, Sabor is a fantastic choice to consider. The exposed beams and live piano music help create a unique atmosphere that will help make your date special.

Aside from all of the mouthwatering Tapas you can sample with a nice glass of wine, one of the top dishes to try here is the Grilled Octopus or the Seafood Paella. Looking at their menu, you’ll notice right away all of the upscale dishes featuring the best that the sea has to offer.

If meat is more your thing, you can’t go wrong with the Piri Piri Chicken or the Parrillada de Carne (Grilled Meats Platter). Vegetarian options like the Mushroom and Truffle Risotto round out this fabulous, multi-course culinary experience.

Because it is in the heart of the bustling ICE District and right next to Rogers Place, you can plan around an Oilers game and even book a night at the hotel so you don’t have to worry about rushing home after it’s all done.

Braven’s menu is packed with a wide variety of upscale drink and food options to satiate any palate. If seafood is your thing, the Tuna Tartare or Coastal Oysters are a great pick for sharing. When it comes time to choose a main course, the homemade pasta dishes are to die for and the “Land & Sea” selection is another great option. You can choose your hardwood-grilled protein and all of the side dishes your heart desires!

Thirsty for a cocktail or two? The Braven Sangria and the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned are staples here, with 13 other tasty creations that are just as good.

Don’t forget to leave some room for dessert, too, because the Phyllo Wrapped Cheesecake or the elevated Chocolate Fudge Sundae is calling your name.

Cafe Amore Bistro

10807 106 Ave NW

Cafe Amore Bistro is a family-owned and operated restaurant and is one of the best places in Edmonton to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine. The kitchen is renowned for its fresh seafood, too. How fresh, you ask? Well, you can choose your own lobster from a live lobster tank!

Of course, the pasta dishes are the star of their menu and they also have some pre-planned dinners for two which are perfect for a date night, like the classic Chicken Parmigiana. This meal comes with fresh pasta, salad, garlic bread, and tiramisu to share! Whatever you choose is sure to be a hit and the portions are plentiful.

Soft lights will twinkle overhead as you enjoy good drinks and even better company, and with late-night hours on the weekends, you don’t have to rush your wining and dining!

La Ronde

10111 Bellamy Hill

See the sights with La Ronde, the only revolving rooftop restaurant in Edmonton. It’s located 24 stories up on top of the Chateau Lacombe Hotel, so you’ll be able to look down at the lights of the entire city as you feast on soups, salads and soufflés.

If you’re hoping to plan something different from the traditional date night, you can also book a reservation at La Ronde for “Sunday Brunch” or “Tieless Tuesday.” It’s a restaurant that manages to be both trendy and timeless, so it’s ideal for couples who want to experience something new together. If the food doesn’t impress you, being at the very top of the Chateau Lacombe Hotel will!
